Everything in Chihayafuru does not have to do with shipping. Taichi actually has feelings about Arata that go beyond his romantic feelings for Chihaya.

Has Taichi ever really tried to keep Chihaya/Arata apart? Did he not realize that Arata would eventually come to Omi Jingu (even if him coming early was a surprise). Could there be more than simple jealousy at work here? I see Taichi projecting his own worries on Chihaya.

Yes Taichi overreacted in the last episode, but he raised his voice a bit. He didn’t attack or scream bloody murder at Chihaya. I think he is not the only one overreacting here.

The bashing of Taichi, Arata, and Chihaya in this fandom tag is beyond ridiculous. I am sorry but I cannot even read this fandom thread without getting seriously annoyed. If you want to defend one character please do not bash another character.

* Chihaya is not purposely ignoring Taichi’s feelings. She just doesn’t realize them and it is up to her whether she loves him or not, not him.
* Taichi’s issues might be his own but he is NOT trying to own or control Chihaya.

* Arata is not in the series enough. He’s great when he shows up.

Seriously all 3 of them are awesome, wonderful characters, Not one of them is perfect. They’ve all made mistakes. And they all still need to grow. Heck it’s not just those three the entire cast is awesome.

Every single day, he wakes to the knowledge of how he had been transformed into a totally different person. Taichi sometimes wondered why he had yet lose his mind when he painfully endured waking moments missing Chihaya’s presence. He made his exit from her life upon a decision he chose, considering it a mark of his defeat that he could never become the goal Chihaya chased and decided to no longer try chasing after a butterfly that would never settle for him. It’s not like he was some sort of romantic creature that favored a love story of painful proportions, but maybe he is undeniably an idealist. A slightly selfish, greedy idealist.

I suspect it’s because it shifts the locus of responsibility. “Unrequited love” focuses on the person who has the crush. The feelings being discussed are the crushing person’s, thus the responsibility in on them to get over their crush and move on. “Friend zone”, on the other hand, focuses on the crush object’s choices. The phrase erases the agency of the crushing person. All blame for their pain is put on the crush object. “Unrequited love” is something that can happen to both sexes, but “friend zone” is a sexist concept that implies that women are solely responsible for men’s happiness, and not men themselves.”

There are plenty of circumstances in which people can gain weight without eating to excess.

I never said I always ate healthy. I just said I currently maintain a fairly moderate diet. Unfortunately, if you break it down to simplest terms, I must burn more calories than I take in. With my level of activity, the required diet would border on starving myself. Which is not a healthy solution.

If you wish to blame me for being overweight, then you are essentially blaming a 3rd grader that didn’t know the consequences of sneaking food when his mom wasn’t looking. I most certainly did not eat healthy then and I have struggled with obesity ever since. So why don’t you find the nearest chubby 3rd grader and see how comfortable you are shaming them for overeating? Or perhaps you might consider that we are not adequately educated in this country. That we have terrible school lunch programs. That we have neighborhoods with very few options for healthy food. That sometimes the convenience and price of unhealthy food makes it our only option. Maybe… just maybe… this issue is immensely more complicated than buttnuggets like you telling chubby folks to start eating better and doing sit ups.

So many people think it is a quick fix of diet and exercise. But there is an intense psychology involved as well. People do not fail at weight loss because they are all lazy and unmotivated. Most of the time they fail because it is incredibly difficult. And then society tries to shame them for their failure. How many people try to give up caffeine only to be drinking Starbuck’s a month later? Or smoking? Or just reading more books?

If these things are that difficult, is it really that hard to imagine someone failing to achieve a complete lifestyle change? A change in which you can make no mistakes, must endure pain, eat terrible food, and work to the point of exhaustion just to get any results. And for what? So they are more comfortable for you to look at? That’s malarkey. How about you just adjust your brain to realize that other people are not there to make your eyeballs happy.
